Samsung just delivered a master class in smart home innovation at IFA 2025, unveiling laundry appliances that blur the line between traditional washing machines and AI-powered household assistants. The Korean tech giant's new A-65% Bespoke AI Washer represents a quantum leap in energy efficiency, consuming 65% less power than the minimum requirements for European Class A ratings—a breakthrough achieved through what Samsung calls "enhanced motor efficiency and refined washing algorithms."
The announcement comes as smart home adoption accelerates globally, with consumers increasingly demanding appliances that think for themselves. "With the new A-65% washer, Samsung has pushed the boundaries of convenience and energy efficiency once again," Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of R&D for Samsung's Digital Appliances division, told Samsung's newsroom. The timing couldn't be more strategic—European energy costs remain elevated while environmental regulations tighten across major markets.
The real differentiator lies in Samsung's upgraded AI Wash+ technology, which now intelligently recognizes outdoor wear and denim alongside traditional fabric types. By analyzing weight, soil levels, and material composition, the system automatically calibrates water usage, detergent amounts, and wash duration—eliminating the guesswork that has plagued laundry routines for decades. This puts Samsung squarely ahead of competitors like Whirlpool and LG, who are still catching up on AI integration in home appliances.
But Samsung isn't stopping at washers. The company simultaneously unveiled its second-generation Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, building on the success of last year's model that launched globally after initial Korean market testing. The updated combo unit delivers a 3kg capacity increase within the same external dimensions—engineering that required completely redesigning the heat exchanger fin layout to expand surface area by 8.5%. According to Samsung's internal testing, drying times drop by 20 minutes while energy consumption falls by 20%.
