Unthread just secured its spot as a TechCrunch Disrupt 2025 finalist with AI-powered Slack bots that are already transforming support operations at Intuit, Lemonade, and Automattic. The startup's native integration approach is turning chaotic workplace messaging into organized, automated support systems that could reshape how enterprises handle internal operations.
The chaos of Slack-based support just found its match. Unthread is turning the workplace messaging platform that's become synonymous with organizational chaos into a streamlined support powerhouse, and the results are already paying off with high-profile enterprise clients.
CEO and co-founder Tom Bachant saw the problem firsthand - the scattered DMs, haphazard ticketing, and zero visibility into recurring issues that plague modern workplace communication. "The first point was just seeing that Slack was this kind of chaotic beast that needed to be tracked better," Bachant told TechCrunch, "and then seeing that the actual work that's being requested by these teams could easily be automated."
That realization has translated into serious enterprise traction. Intuit, Lemonade, and Automattic are among the high-profile customers already using Unthread's AI-powered support bots to automatically resolve issues and route complex problems into organized tickets. But this isn't just another chatbot company - Unthread's native Slack integration is fundamentally changing how these organizations think about internal support.
The platform's flexibility extends far beyond traditional IT help desks. Unthread can deploy the same AI-driven approach for HR, legal, or finance departments, creating department-specific workflows that adapt to each team's unique needs. Once deployed, the system starts learning from interactions, building a self-updating knowledge base that gets smarter with every resolved ticket.
"LLMs have changed the way people use our product," Bachant explained, "but ultimately it hasn't changed the problem that we're solving." The core value isn't just the AI - it's applying proper organizational structure to the modern enterprise communication platform where most work actually happens.
This isn't Bachant's first rodeo with enterprise software. His previous startup, Dashride, was a college-focused ride-sharing service that Cruise acquired in 2018. After a brief stint with an unsuccessful HR startup, he's now leading Unthread's lean 10-person team from New York, focusing on expanding the platform's capabilities while servicing their growing client base.
