Bethesda just dropped a $300 wearable replica of the iconic Pip-Boy 3000 from Fallout 3 and New Vegas that goes way beyond previous attempts. This isn't just another plastic collectible - it's got a full 4-inch LCD display running actual game menus, a working radiation detector that measures FM radio waves, and ships in June 2026. For Fallout fans still riding the wave from Amazon's hit series, this represents the most ambitious gaming merchandise we've seen this year.
Bethesda just turned gaming collectibles up to eleven with a $300 wearable replica of the Pip-Boy 3000 that actually works. The company's latest merchandise push taps into the massive popularity of Amazon's Fallout series while delivering something that goes far beyond typical gaming tchotchkes.
This isn't Bethesda's first rodeo with Pip-Boy replicas. The company bundled a simpler version with Fallout 4's collector's edition back in 2015, but that plastic shell required your smartphone to do the heavy lifting. This new version, created with specialty manufacturer The Wand Company, packs its own 4-inch LCD display and runs independently.
The screen toggles between the classic green interface from Fallout 3 and the amber-tinted UI from New Vegas. Bethesda claims they've recreated "almost all of the in-game content" from both titles, including hundreds of navigable menus controlled by physical scroll wheels and dials. You can even play the Atomic Command minigame directly on the device.
What really sets this apart is the attention to authentic details. The screen simulates a vintage cathode-ray tube display complete with glitches and screen flicker that can be "fixed" by tapping the device, thanks to a built-in accelerometer. It's the kind of easter egg that shows The Wand Company understands their audience.
The construction quality matches the premium price point. The front casing uses die-cast metal while the body is injection-molded plastic with a memory foam cuff that can be adjusted with an included spacer. Beyond the display, it packs a flashlight, headphone jack, alarm clock functionality, and a display stand for desk mode.
But here's where things get interesting - it includes a functional radiation detector. Before you panic, this isn't measuring actual nuclear fallout. Instead, it detects electromagnetic radiation from FM radio broadcasts, displaying readings on-screen with authentic Geiger counter sound effects.
The timing couldn't be better from a business perspective. Amazon's Fallout series became one of 2024's biggest streaming hits, and season two drops December 17th. Unfortunately, this replica won't ship until June 2026, missing that marketing window entirely.
