Nomad just boosted the charging game with updated Stand One and Stand One Max wireless chargers that support the new Qi2.2 standard, delivering up to 25W of power to compatible devices like the iPhone 16 series and Google's upcoming Pixel models. The premium aluminum and glass charging stands now ship with dual charging capabilities and carry the same sleek design that made their predecessors popular among power users.
Accessory maker Nomad is betting big on the future of fast wireless charging with today's launch of updated Stand One and Stand One Max chargers that embrace the new Qi2.2 standard. The 4th-generation models can deliver up to 25W of wireless power to compatible smartphones, including Apple's iPhone 16 and upcoming 17 series, plus Google's rumored Pixel 10 Pro XL.
The timing couldn't be better. As smartphone makers push wireless charging speeds closer to wired rates, premium accessory brands like Nomad are racing to keep pace. The company's latest stands maintain the same glass-and-aluminum aesthetic that made earlier versions popular, but pack significantly more charging grunt under the hood.
Nomad's decision to embrace Qi2.2 puts them ahead of many competitors still stuck on older standards. The new protocol represents a major leap from the 15W maximum of previous Qi2 implementations, though you'll need a phone that supports the faster speeds to see the benefit. Right now, that list is pretty short, but it's growing as manufacturers prep their 2025 lineups.
Both chargers require a separate 40W USB-C power adapter, which Nomad deliberately omits from the box. "Many people already own multiple power adapters and providing additional units creates unnecessary waste," the company explains on its FAQ page. It's an interesting stance in an industry that's still figuring out the balance between convenience and environmental responsibility.
The Stand One, priced at $119, gets the most significant upgrade with a second wireless charging pad tucked behind its angled phone support. This hidden pad can juice up AirPods or other Qi-compatible earbuds at 5W rates while your phone charges at full speed. At 575 grams (1.2 pounds), it's got enough heft to stay planted on your desk during daily use.
The Stand One Max commands a $159 price tag but offers Apple Watch compatibility alongside phone and earbud charging. Nomad fixed a key design flaw from earlier versions that prevented horizontal phone placement while the watch charged simultaneously. The 875-gram Max model continues to hide its earbud charging spot behind the vertical Apple Watch charger, maintaining the clean aesthetic Nomad is known for.
