Samsung just unveiled its most ambitious smart home vision yet. The company is tripling its AI appliance lineup from 300 to 1,030 models in 2025, with Executive Vice President Jeong Seung Moon declaring the ultimate goal: 'zero housework' through autonomous AI appliances that think and act independently.
Samsung is betting big on a future where your appliances handle everything while you live your life. The company's Executive Vice President Jeong Seung Moon just laid out the most comprehensive smart home strategy we've seen, revealing plans to eliminate housework entirely through AI that learns, decides, and acts without human intervention.
The numbers tell the story of Samsung's commitment. From roughly 300 AI appliance models in 2024, the company is pushing to 1,030 models by March 2025 - a staggering expansion that spans refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, ovens, and robot vacuums. "Samsung's product development is focused on advancing the connection between AI and devices so that appliances can understand users and act on their behalf," Moon told Samsung Newsroom in an exclusive interview.
This isn't just about adding screens to fridges anymore. Samsung's Bespoke AI platform combines three core technologies that work in concert: Screens for intuitive control, Bixby for natural voice interaction, and Vision for autonomous object recognition. The result? Appliances that don't just respond to commands - they anticipate needs and take action independently.
The breakthrough feature catching industry attention is Voice ID, launched this year across Bespoke AI refrigerators. In family homes, the system recognizes individual voices and personalizes responses accordingly. Ask "What's on my schedule?" and Bixby pulls up your calendar, not your spouse's. The technology extends to photos, playlists, and personal preferences, creating truly individualized experiences within shared spaces.
"Bixby has been enhanced with a large language model tailored for appliances, enabling users to interact naturally with their devices through conversation-like commands," Moon explained. But Samsung went further with wakeless voice control - an industry first that lets users operate appliances without saying "Hi Bixby" first. Simply command "Open the left fridge door" and it happens, paired with Auto Open Door technology for seamless access.
