Smart home pioneer Aqara just dropped a comprehensive product lineup at IFA 2025 in Berlin, headlined by its first wired doorbell camera with deep Apple HomeKit integration. The Doorbell Camera G400 brings 2K video recording and facial recognition directly into Apple's ecosystem, while a suite of new hubs and outdoor cameras signal the company's push into premium smart home territory.
Aqara just made its biggest play yet for a slice of the premium smart home market. At IFA 2025 in Berlin, the Chinese smart home company unveiled six new products that put it in direct competition with Ring and Google Nest in the lucrative doorbell camera category.
The star of the show is the Doorbell Camera G400, Aqara's first wired video doorbell that integrates seamlessly with Apple's HomeKit Secure Video ecosystem. The device captures 2K resolution footage with what Aqara calls "head-to-toe" coverage, automatically detecting motion, packages, vehicles, animals, and people. More importantly for Apple users, all recordings and facial recognition processing happen through Apple's encrypted cloud infrastructure rather than third-party servers.
"This is about giving users complete control over their data while maintaining the convenience they expect," explains the positioning in Aqara's official announcement. The G400 supports both Power over Ethernet (PoE) and traditional low-voltage installations, making it accessible for both DIY enthusiasts and professional installers.
But Aqara isn't stopping at doorbell cameras. The company's new Camera G510 represents its first battery-powered outdoor security camera, complete with an integrated solar panel to maintain continuous operation. The 2.5K resolution sensor handles on-device person, vehicle, and package detection without requiring cloud processing – a significant advantage for privacy-conscious users and those with limited internet bandwidth.
The real infrastructure play comes through the Home Station M410, a multi-functional security hub that Aqara positions as the central nervous system for its camera ecosystem. Beyond extending wireless range for battery-powered cameras, the M410 supports 24/7 local recording to hard drives, SSDs, or microSD cards while simultaneously functioning as a Matter hub. This dual-purpose design could appeal to users who want local storage control without sacrificing smart home integration.
